William Petruck - President FUNDING matters® Inc. [ email ] Mr. Petruck, President of FUNDING matters® Inc., has compiled a track record of successful track record in fundraising consulting, communications, strategic planning and marketing management. He is considered an authority in the field of fundraising and philanthropy and lectures throughout North America on fundraising trends and innovations and conducts workshops for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). As well, he holds workshops on Fundraising tools and trends for wealth management advisors, not-for-profit and non-profit organizations. FUNDING matters® Inc. proprietary tools include FMI Logistix, FM-IQ™, Giftabulator® and iShare™. All of these tools give FUNDING matters and its clients an advantage over conventional approaches to fundraising. Laura Oda - Senior Campaign Director [ email ] Laura Oda has been with FmI for over 7 years and has an impressive record as a senior executive in the profit and not- for- profit sectors. Ms. Oda established herself as a strong fundraiser through her outstanding work at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. From 1997 to 2000, she was responsible for the planning and execution of short and long term fundraising strategies for the JCCC, including the $13 million Building Together Campaign, one of the country's largest and most successful culture centre appeals to date. Ms. Oda also has significant success in raising the Centre's profile internationally, in the development of member programming, and in the planning and implementation of community and government relations. Now working on the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre's Home with a Heart Campaign, Ms. Odaa leads the $15 million initiative to establish a secure unit for residents with behavioural management challenges, expand dining facilities, renovate and rejuvenate the building systems and establish an endowment fund. In the education sector. She is also working on the $10 million Seneca@Markham Campaign, part of Seneca College’s Leading Through Excellence $100 million development effort and she worked on the Ryerson IS Retail Ready Campaign, a $10 million initiative to establish the only degree granting, retail management program in the country. Other clients Ms. Oda has provided philanthropic consultation to include the Toronto Foundation for Student Success, Goodwill Industries, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, The Liver Foundation of Canada, The Kidney Foundation of Central Ontario, The Aphasia Institute, and Variety - The Children's Charity. As a development and strategic planning professional Ms. Oda consulted to local as well as national organizations in areas such as the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, the Ontario Association of Occupational Therapists and the Momiji Seniors Centre on such topics as Board Development, Strategic Planning and database needs analysis. From 1987 to 1992, Ms. Oda was the Director of Training and Development from 1987 to 1992 at the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy and from 1992 to 1994 the Centre's Director of Operations. She led the Centre through a major restructuring and focused its activities to better meet the needs of the market. Ms. Oda began her professional career at Bell Northern Research and then joined Trigon Technologies Inc. where she held a series of senior positions, culminating as Director of Administration and Accounting from 1984 to 1987. Ms. Oda is a board member of Workman Arts and has been active in a variety of community and civic activities, including Consul General of Japan's Access Japan committee (1999-2000); Japanese Children's Museum Board member (1999-2001); Centenary Health Centre-Community Advisory Committee Member (1995-1997); Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre Board Member (1996 -1998), Momiji Health Care Society (1999 - 2003), and is involved in her local community association. He has developed and executed award winning campaigns that have successfully cut through the clutter and delivered business objectives. Maral Masoodi - Campaign Director [ email ] Ms. Masoodi has been with FUNDING matters for 2 years. Her current responsibilities are to oversee the implementation and leadership of a $7 million capital campaign in relation to a $34 million overall development project for the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. A graduate of the Master of Arts in Journalism program at the University of Western Ontario, Ms. Masoodi also holds a B.A. in Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in finance from the University of Western Ontario. She has extensive experience in interviewing, writing, reporting and copy-editing where she worked as a chase producer, a reporter for The BBC in Tehran, covering the nuclear energy issue in Iran, and worked as a media and public affairs officer for the United Nations. This experience proves her ability to work in an innovative and dynamic environment where she can embrace and overcome any challenge. Currently, she sits on the board of directors Parya Trillium Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation of the Iranian culture amongst Iranian-Canadians. [ Back to top ]
Michael Kim - Associate Campaign Director [ email ] Over the past year, Mr. Kim has been involved in various FUNDING matters projects. Mr. Kim's efforts towards building technical innovations in the area of online social marketing has moved FUNDING matters towards the forefront of technology in the not for profit world. His research capabilities are an essential part of our clients success. The utilization of IT in the development of FM-IQ Surveys has has greatly increased the body of knowledge for organizations as they approach organizational development. Mr. Kim is an innovative grant and proposal writer and has had tremendous success in developing innovative partnerships which have generated on-going sustainable revenue streams. He has worked with the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, Rouge Valley Health System Foundation, Korean Cultural Centre, Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre and Seneca College. Anna Do - Associate Campaign Director [ email ] Ms. Do is an integral member of the team. Working on the $15 million capital campaign at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre and Seneca College’s $10 million Markham Campaign for Innovation. Applied Research and Technology Centre. Her focus is on major gifts, special events and planned giving programs. In her leisure time, Ms. Do is on the board of directors of the Vietnamese Association – Toronto. She is a member of several special events committees, organizing events from galas, a golf tournament and theatre shows, to the largest Annual Lunar New Year Festival. Ms. Do holds a certificate in Fundraising and Volunteer Management from Humber College and a Bachelor of Gerontology from McMaster University. [ Back to top ]
J. Gustav Cho - Senior IT Consultant [ email ] Mr. Cho is an invaluable member of the FUNDING matters team. His skills in software development have allowed FUNDING matters to develop innovative proprietary software for fundraising and philanthropy. As well his expertise is often called upon to provide counsel on to provide counsel on FUNDING matters software projects and technical challenges for FUNDING matters clients. In 2007, Mr. Cho presented at the FLEX-World conference to leading international software developers on innovative applications developed by FUNDING matters. The Conference Session was oversubscribed. His leadership in the IT development area is greatly appreciated. Mr. Cho graduated from UCLA with a BA in Math and has a MA in Economics from Duke University. He has worked as a software developer with various companies in the United States of America. Wendy Tran - IT Director [ email ] Ms. Tran is responsible for the management and development of the online development programs developed by FUNDING matters® Inc. Under her direction the development of Fm-iq, Giftabulator, iShare as well as other client related initiatives. In addition to her ongoing duties with the administration of the FmI server and email system, Ms. Tran meets with clients to understand their needs and develops customized solutions to meet their technical requirements relating to ongoing projects. Ms. Tran has presented at FLEX - world conference regarding the innovative platforms to which FUNDING matters develops it unique on line platforms. Ms. Tran holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. As part of the FUNDING matters she has gained first hand experience on the application development processes. James Ko - Web Applications Developer [ email ] James Ko joined the team in early 2008 and is involved in the development of website projects and applications such as iShare, Giftabulator and a number of web blast teaser applications. James graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. He majored in Computer Science and has minors in East Asian Studies and Linguistics. On his free time, James is involved in the music ministries at his church, playing guitar and overseeing a Sunday morning worship band. [ Back to top ]
John Ko - Network/Web Applications Developer [ email ] John joins the all-star team as a Computer Network and Technical Support graduate from Seneca College. With 3 years of experience in web development and Information Technology assistance, John supports projects such as software translations, customer relations management software, and general I.T. support for Funding Matters Inc.
